New broadcast rights deals boost FIFA’s coffers

FIFA has followed up its bumper US broadcast deal by announcing further agreements in Australia, Canada and the Caribbean to bring the total rights fees raised for coverage of the 2018 and 2022 World Cups to US$1.85 billion so far. Fox, Telemundo and Futbol de Primera Radio last week secured the US broadcast rights to the 2018 and 2022 World Cups in a deal worth a reported $1.2 billion. The announcement was made on the sidelines of FIFA’s Executive Committee meeting in Zurich and represented a significant increase in the value of FIFA’s rights in the market
