Netball Australia has appointed 2015 Netball World Cup Chief Executive Officer Marne Fechner as the organisation’s first Deputy CEO.

Fechner returns to Netball Australia following a restructure of the organisation’s business units. She will oversee Netball Australia’s Commercial, Marketing, Communications and Events departments.

Previously the Head of Commercial, Fechner was responsible for doubling Netball Australia’s commercial turnover since 2007 and was instrumental in securing new corporate partners for the sport while implementing and leading a national commercial framework.

Netball Australia’s Chief Executive Officer, Kate Palmer, said of Fechner’s appointment: “Marne brings a wealth of knowledge to the role and will be responsible for strategic leadership and direction of the organisation’s new and exciting business division as the sport capitalises on the legacy of the Netball World Cup.”

Fechner added: “Netball World Cup Sydney 2015 highlighted what the sport is capable of, and with a number of ambitious plans on the table, I’m excited by the challenges that lay ahead.”
