Central Coast Mariners Developments Trust have announced the signing of a 25 year lease for the hotel to be constructed within their $40m centre of Excellence at Tuggerah.
Toga Hotels won the bidding to be lessee of the hotel, which will be operated under its Travelodge brand and known as Travelodge Hotel Mariners Tuggerah. The club said the hotel was expected to open in late 2013.
Travelodge Hotel Mariners Tuggerah will be a cornerstone of the A-League club’s unique, community-focussed sporting development, providing 130 hotel rooms in a market identified by Toga Hotels Travelodge as strategically significant.
Central Coast Mariners Chairman, Peter Turnbull, described the collaboration with Toga Hotels as a landmark agreement for the current Hyundai A-League Premiers.
“Our agreement with Toga Hotels is a major milestone in the history and development of the Central Coast Mariners Football Club,” Turnbull said.
“Toga Hotel’s initial lease of Travelodge Hotel Mariners Tuggerah is for a period 15 years, with two five year options built into the agreement.”
“Travelodge Hotel Mariners Tuggerah will generate significant and guaranteed revenue as we work towards our goal of building the Central Coast Mariners brand not only in Australia but across Asia.”
With Stage 1 of the Mariners Centre of Excellence complete, Travelodge Hotel Mariners Tuggerah will form the basis of Stage 2 of the development, which also includes a state-of-the-art aquatic and hydrotherapy centre.
“We have received our Construction Certificate from Council now for the commencement of Stage 2. We will now be commencing the construction works next month,” said Turnbull.
Upon completion, the Central Coast Mariners Centre of Excellence will also feature a 3,000-seat stadium, seven full-sized training pitches, a six-storey office complex, and a licensed club with a 400-person capacity function centre.
