Today’s sporting directors have a range of duties and responsibilities that go well beyond the need to win games and achieve sporting excellence.

Competing demands, conflicts of interest, managing risk and increasing legislation and compliance burdens are amongst some of the biggest challenges sporting organisations have to tackle.

The Board plays a critical role in driving the organisations strategy and demonstrating transparency, accountability and responsibility in all activities undertaken. Through better governance directors of sporting organisations can ensure stronger management, growth, membership and a significant impact on the performance of the organisation both off and on the field.

The Australian Institute of Company Directors have assembled a specialist panel to share their stories and insights specifically for Directors in this arena:

      • Effective governance, leadership and decision making unique to the sporting arena
      • Developing and monitoring strategic goals and direction
      • Harnessing and channelling passion
      • Managing varied stakeholders for the best interests of the members and the game
      • Minimising risk and protecting your reputation

This is a unique opportunity to meet and network with directors in the same field and share your experiences and insights.

      Speakers:

      •  Mark Anderson, Chief Executive Officer of Swimming Australia
      •  Professor David Shilbury GAICD, Chair, Sport Management Program, Deakin University
      • Alisa Camplin OAM MAICD, Chair, Australian Sports Foundation
