Crowdfunding and the future of Gymnastics Australia

With their National Championships taking place at the Sydney Olympic Park Sports Centre from 7 – 18 July, Gymnastics Australia (GA) has turned to crowdfunding to support this event and raise awareness about their sport. In an interview with SBI, Mark Rendell, the CEO of GA, offered his insights into not only this latest crowdfunding initiative, but the current and future goals of GA, as well as the need to balance funding between participation and elite levels with the Commonwealth and Olympic Games coming up in the near future.

NRL Auckland Nines officially launched

The NRL has today officially launched their nine-a-side pre-season tournament to be held in Auckland, New Zealand. The $2.2Million tournament, which will replace the All-star game in 2014, is designed for NRL stars to showcase a different set of skills than are normally displayed in the NRL, which is hoped will broaden the international audience of the sport.

Asian Pacific Oceania Powerchair Football Cup 2013 ready for kick-off

Australia is set to host the 2013 Asian Pacific Oceania Powerchair Football Cup, the first time Australia will organise the biennial tournament, to be opened by New South Wales Minister for Sport and Recreation Graham Annesley.
